Representatives of the Houston Resource Guardian Team will present the innovative processes developed over the past year to bring 3 regional databases from an average verification rate of 65% on April 1, 2019 to a standard 98% on June 30, 2019 which continues as our standard through today. This special will include the systematic and philosophical changes made on how to share the workload of verifying agencies every 6 months, increasing the addition rate of new services, improving quality and developing a training process for new team members. The Houston Resource Guardians will provide the changes, the thought processes that went into the changes made, lessons learned and answer questions from anyone present. The workshop will be presented in 4 major sections: 1)Verification, 2) Adding new services 3) Quality improvements of the data itself, and 4) Training for new team members.

After attending this session:

  • Identify five ways of getting updates from agencies
  • Understand at least three system changes that provide improved data quality
  • Explain how to calibrate the work within one database and among three different databases to anyone
  • Implement one or more actions to improve the efficiency of their own database work
  • Take home a taxonomy "cheat sheet" for internal and external use in searching for resources
  • Take home templates for field data

Dianne Long

Community Resource Manager of 211 Texas/United Way Helpline

Dianne is the Community Resource Manager for the Gulf Coast, North Central/Fort Worth and the Coastal Bend databases at 211 Texas/United Way of Greater Houston. She joined the Houston group in 2017, just after Hurricane Harvey hit the area. She answers calls from help-seekers and supported the development of a training manual for the resource team. Dianne is a Licensed Master Social Worker as well as a CRS and CRS-DC. She has worked for non-profits and medical service organizations for over 30 years in the Houston area. Throughout her career, the 211 Resource Database has been used to help clients/patients access needed services. This is her opportunity to make a difference that will help a larger group of people in need. Dianne enjoys walking outside anywhere, fostering cats or dogs and travelling.

Cleia Domiguiez

211 Texas/United Way of Greater Houston, Houston, Texas

Cleia is the Lead Community Resource Specialist at 211 Texas/United Way of Greater Houston. Cleia is a Master Level Social Worker and began as a Helpline Specialist in 2018. She has been working as a Resource Specialist since early 2019. She has worked with one of the largest nonprofits in Houston analyzing programs to improves services for the community. Cleia has a passion for developing efficiency in services so that help seekers can access quality services to reach stability. She has developed training guides and new processes in efficiency to meet goals and improve services. Cleia enjoys biking and playing with her family's 7 dogs and 4 cats.
