Sometimes it feels like all we do is say "No". Community resource specialists often have to guide people through the reality of a limited social service safety net. This presentation is a team effort by a 211 and an ADRC, and will help you develop tools to help manage calls with confidence, even when you have to say "No"'. We will provide examples of helpful scripting, strategies for controlling the call, and tips for getting through difficult interactions. This session will enable you to be more confident in your position, and provide you with tools to leave both you and your caller feeling more positive about the road ahead. While this training is primarily for community resource specialists, supervisors and managers will find it helpful in understanding and supporting staff.

In the past decade, there have been 396 disasters in the United States including everything from earthquakes and volcanoes to violent storms, extreme temperatures, flooding and wildfires. All this and mass shotting events. Through it all, many of our I&R peers have been there tirelessly supporting their communities, long after the cameras have departed. In the midst of these experiences, they have engaged in a cycle of continuous improvement; identifying opportunities, planning and then implementing processes and procedures that have improved both their everyday and disaster service delivery. And then in 2020, COVID enters the scene ... the most widespread and prolonged disaster in recent history. Join four amazing leaders in I&R whose organizations have had plenty of opportunity to evaluate, improve and have indeed, become unwillingly Disaster Masters . Did their previous disaster experiences help prepare them to respond to COVID? And how have their experiences with COVID brought about changes to their regular disaster and everyday processes?

People are bombarded by millions of messages everyday about how to create the perfect life and what is normal , but unfortunately, much of what is taught in the mental health and self-development field is based on false beliefs about how people should work and what health should look like? The result is that people are often left feeling depressed, stuck, anxious and confused about who their authentic self actually is. With Lisa's in-depth understanding of neuro-psychology, how the mind is designed to work and the biology of symptoms, she teaches people why they create the life experiences that they do freeing them from many of the cultural myths and the limiting beliefs that keep them stuck, powerless, and dissatisfied.
